July 15, JCC Holding Two Information Sessions for Higher Education

Information Session 1 -

SUNY Cobleskill will host an information session on Monday, July 15, 2013 to promote its Degree Completion program in Early Childhood Studies at the Jefferson Higher Education Center in Watertown.

The Bachelor of Science degree completion program in Early Childhood Studies: Birth to Age 5 is specially designed for working adults who are interested in pursuing a bachelor’s degree on a part-time basis. Located on the Jefferson Community College (JCC) campus, the coursework is offered two nights per week in a traditional classroom setting to a cohort of eligible students.

Information Session 2  -

JCC is pleased to announce a new partnership with the State University of New York (SUNY) College at Brockport and Nazareth College of Rochester that will bring a master’s of social work program to the Jefferson Higher Education Center on JCC’s campus in Watertown. The Greater Rochester Collaborative Master of Social Work (GRC MSW) program, a unique collaborative between Nazareth College and The College at Brockport, is scheduled to be offered at the Jefferson Higher Education Center beginning in the Fall 2013 semester.

An information session for interested students to learn more about the GRC-MSW program will be held on Monday, July 15 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Room E-120 of the Extended Learning Center at Jefferson Community College. Additional information, including program prerequisites, is available on

The program curriculum to be offered beginning in August on Jefferson’s campus in Watertown is a 36-credit, advanced standing part-time graduate program. Eligible applicants for the Fall 2013 semester are students who have received a bachelor’s degree in social work within the last 8 years from a Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program. The program’s focus on community based practice is unique in its emphasis on leadership in interdisciplinary teamwork across social systems. The GRC MSW program prepares competent, advanced social work practitioners to address the anti-violence, women’s health, child welfare, aging and poverty challenges through community collaboration, partnership and empowerment.
