SUNY Oswego School of Business Named to 'Best' List for 11th Year

SUNY Oswego’s School of Business appears on Princeton Review’s 2015 list of “The Best 296 Business Schools,” an annual distinction of more than a decade’s standing.

“External validation, whether from Princeton Review or U.S. News, affirms the quality of our business programs,” said Richard Skolnik, dean of the business school. “We are very pleased to be included in the Princeton Review’s ‘Best 296 Business Schools: 2015 Edition.’ This marks the 11th consecutive year of our inclusion, since the inception of the guide’s ‘Best 143 Business Schools –2005 Edition.’”

Criteria for inclusion on the Princeton Review list include admissions selectivity and scoring of student survey responses about academic experience, campus culture, excellence and accessibility of faculty, and career placement efforts and successes.

Oswego’s profile in “The Best 296 Business Schools: 2015 Edition” includes student-survey comments about small class sizes and the quality and accessibility of School of Business faculty. One student also spoke about SUNY Oswego’s “technologically advanced and mostly wireless” campus. Another said, “The professors are excellent and the classes are fun and challenging.”

The private education services company publishes profiles on each school alphabetically, and does not rank them hierarchically, putting Oswego in the company of much larger colleges and universities.

“Some things have changed in the past 11 years,” Skolnik said. “Our MBA enrollment has grown from 67 students to more than 200 students, we are now offering classes at the SUNY Oswego Metro Center in Syracuse, we have a completely online option for students and we offer an MBA in health services administration. Other things have remained unchanged: small class sizes, faculty dedicated to student success, and personalized advising for students.”

The School of Business offers a variety of undergraduate programs as well as its highly regarded MBA options, the dean said.

SUNY Oswego, accredited by the American Association of Collegiate Schools of Business, offers undergraduate programs in accounting, business administration, finance, human resource management, marketing, operations management, and risk management and insurance.

Among other customizable MBA programs are management, public accounting and a variety of five-year options that combine an MBA with such undergraduate disciplines as broadcasting, psychology and public accounting.
