The list is the first of its kind to rate universities, colleges, community colleges and trade schools on their responsiveness and relevance to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) occupations. SUNY Canton was chosen specifically for its program diversity and successful job placement.
“This distinction is a fitting recognition given SUNY Canton’s strong emphasis on applied learning in STEM fields,” said SUNY Canton President Zvi Szafran. “By preparing our students to be competitive in these high demand, high growth areas, we are helping fill a critical need in New York State’s job market.”
The college offers bachelor’s degrees in a number of STEM-related programs, including Alternative and Renewable Energy Systems, Civil and Environmental Technology, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, Nursing, and Veterinary Technology. Associate programs include Civil Engineering Technology, Engineering Science and Dental Hygiene.
